Ice Cream for Breakfast

A young girl's casual conversation with her friends leads to a troubling conversation with her mother. Ice Cream For Breakfast is based on a personal childhood conversation expressing the naïveté of innocence and lessons of experience. This short piece was nominated as a semi-finalist in the Adobe Design Achievement Awards.

Production

At just the age of three, lead child actor Isabella Putnam plays character Sarah for this debut role in Ice Cream for Breakfast. Her real-life mother and seasoned actor Laura Putnam also portrayed the role of Isabella's mother on-screen to ease her into the acting world, and to see if she would enjoy it.

Wrote both original and shooting scripts in script format with software Final Draft.

Producing & Funding

Research, strategy, development and execution for film product; marketing and distribution. Funding allocation; casting director, hire and manage cast and crew, including children; location scouting; securing equipment; props management.

Pre-Production

Created all shot lists for both original and shooting scripts; scheduled cast and crew, created call sheets; coordinated location use.

Directing

Directed cast and crew on set and on location within designated timeframe and scheduling.

Post-Production & Sound Design

Video file management; video editing in Final Cut Pro; color grading; sound design and mixing including foley audio, sound effects, and music with ProTools.

Publishing & Distribution

Final film nominated as semi-finalist in the Adobe Design Achievement Award. The film screened at 8 festivals and shows, generating an IMDb film page.
